This post is tough to write as we observe all that is going on in Ukraine, and I still encourage you to spend some time and reflect on the good in your February. In times of trouble and fear, we need the energy of gratitude more than ever.
Fear can lead us down the wrong path and gratitude can be the clearing we need to make impactful positive change.
May you be happy. May you be healthy. May you be at peace.
“If you want to turn your life around, try thankfulness. It will change your life mightily."
My Gratitudes (Read my other posts? Then jump to here!)
What is this post all about?
Each month, I want to spend a moment reflecting and sharing with you the things I am grateful for.
This serves two purposes.
Firstly, and you could say selfishly it provides me with accountability towards this goal in my life. Gratitude practices have played a huge part in my journey, and in 2022 I want to develop a greater routine and a deeper connection with all that is wonderful.
Secondly, I want it to inspire you to count your blessings so you too can harness the power of gratitude. Melody Beattie said it best: “Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity...it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."
Try It Yourself!
There are many ways to capture gratitude and for this monthly post, I wanted to create a structure that would serve me in my reflections and ensure I don’t forget the little or the big things I am grateful for.
Therefore I have chosen 4 headings and I invite you to use them too. They are:
As you will soon see, my gratitudes are captured as three under each heading in a short paragraph which starts with “I am grateful …” this is for ease of reading.
For you, I invite you to capture as many as flow and record them in whichever creative way feels good to you at this moment. Here are some ideas:
A4 page split into quarters
A long list
In a journal
Silently in your mind
And so we close the shortest month of the year.
“Gratitude and attitude are not challenges; they are choices."
I am grateful for simplicity, my word of the year. Countless times it has kept me level headed just when I needed it most.
I am grateful for the final touches on the house. A home is never complete, but little touches can make it feel so special.
I am grateful for my coaching and development. Working with a somatic coach on something deeply rooted from my childhood has helped me make huge progress through February.
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things."
I am grateful for flowers, specifically the red roses I was gifted for valentines day. Their blooms lasted so long and they brought me joy each time I saw them.
I am grateful for soft lighting. As a highly sensitive person (HSP) our new lights that dim are making such a difference to my energy and overwhelm.
I am grateful for simple software, credit goes to the teams behind Wix who have made it so simple for me to update and improve my website.
"Silent gratitude isn't very much to anyone."
I am grateful for customer service. This is certainly not something I say often so I felt it should make the list as I have experienced such kind people recently when having to sort an issue or three.
I am grateful to my family, both direct and extended. I enjoy all our time together and am pleased that we make the effort to gather and share a meal.
I am grateful for my digital friendships. You know who you are! Starting out on the journey of launching my own business, I never realised how many quality friendships I would form through the internet. It's been a lifeline.
“Gratitude is more of a compliment to yourself than someone else."
I am grateful for my growth, once again this month has been filled with opportunities to grow or shrink and I love that I always expand.
I am grateful for losing weight. Having slowly gained weight over the past few years I was not unhappy but also not happy with how my body felt. Having joined my partner on the keto diet I am amazed by the results and how much healthier I feel.
I am grateful for my passion and determination. I love coaching, I am adept at supporting others and running a business is a challenge. No matter what, my passion drives me forward - I am always called to my purpose.
My Final Gratitude
I am grateful to you, dear reader!
I hope you have enjoyed reading my gratitudes and I look forward to you sharing your own with me in the comments, with friends over a drink, with your kids at bedtime or just silently with yourself as a form of self-care.
With Love & Gratitude
